A barrel of water weighed 60 pounds. Someone put something in it and now it weighs 40 pounds. What did the person add?

Hmm.. I can't get this one easily. The one thing with these riddles is that you have to name things that aren't physical. Maybe it's a hole or an opening in the barrel?
